We want more teammates to join us at Akaru. Their gateway is the careers page that we’re using at Freshteam. And because first impressions last, when an aspiring applicant arrives at the Akaru careers page, they should feel what it’s like to be working with Akaru: fresh and vibrant. This was the aim of the redesign.

In this small project, I designed the look and feel, and customized the elements of Akaru’s careers page on Freshteam.

Unlike the Book Vax app, I did not work on this project from scratch. A design already existed, and I was limited to the customizable elements available on Freshteam. Nonetheless, it was still possible to give the page a fresh look that matches Akaru’s brand.

How do I describe Akaru at a glance? This was a question I wanted to answer with the design. I visited the Akaru website and came up with 4 words: minimalist, neat, zen, Kyoto. These images that I found on Unsplash captured those keywords pretty well.

I could never go wrong with sketching and Figma. Even with the same elements, I sketched the page and noted which parts I wanted to modify.

Then, I visualized the design better with mockups that I created on Figma.

It was now time to put the mockup to the test. And fortunately, customizing elements on Freshteam was easy.
